Years of controversy have surrounded prospective seabed mining projects in New Zealand. The Trans Tasman Resources Ltd permit, declined in 2014 and awarded in 2017, is now being challenged in court. There is great uncertainty surrounding the potential environmental impacts, as well as economic justice.
