Cryptic diversity in deep-sea snailfishes require imaging, morphological, and genetic approaches. Ventral suction disk to cling to rocks, forming a curled, snail-like posture. Scaleless bodies, elongated body forms. Snailfishes inhabit multiple deep-sea habitats worldwide.
